The Marr Thistle

Each component of the piece, except the agates and baubles, are cut from art glass, fired and fused in our kiln. Fusing allows us to not only create more vivid colours and blends, but also provide texture and depth, and much stronger components. Most pieces are 2 to 4 sheets in depth and the thistle blossom itself is 6 layers deep. The lettering is two strong layers which results in the wonderful sheen and durability. The dichroic glass that makes up the thistle 'buds' change colours as different light occurs throughout the day.
